Accommodation of 64 refugee families in their newly constructed apartments in Temerin (Sirig)

27.08.2020. In Sirig, (municipality of Temerin) the keys to 64 newly constructed apartments intended for refugee families from Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Croatia were handed over to those residing within the territory of the municipality.  The apartments have been constructed within the framework of Sub-Project 5 of the Regional Housing Program.

Due to the current situation with the Corona virus, a decision to forego the formal ceremony was taken in favour of a short, symbolic ceremony, held in keeping with the relevant preventative measures.  The keys were handed over to the would be recipients by the Assistant to the Commissioner, Mr. Ivan Gerginov, the President of the Municipality, Mr. Mladen Zec, the Director of the Provincial Fund for Supporting Refugees, Persecuted and Displaced Persons, Mr. Dusko Cutilo, and the Director of the Sector for Planning and Management of Construction Projects of PIU, Ms. Tanja Kadijevic.  The aforementioned dignitaries wished the respective beneficiaries of the new apartments a long and happy life in their new homes.  

The Regional Housing Program multiannual, joint program undertaken by the Republics of Serbia, Montenegro, Croatia and the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina which aims to provide permanent housing solutions for the most vulnerable refugee families within the region.

The aforementioned program is being implemented with the support of the OSCE, the UNHCR and the Development Bank of the Council of Europe and is financed primarily by means of donor funds.  The largest donor to the program is the European Union, followed by the United States of America, Germany, Norway, Switzerland, Italy, Denmark, Turkey, Luxemburg, Spain, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania and Slovakia.
