An agreement has been signed between Commissariat for Refugees and Migration of the Republic of Serbia and the Regional Secretariat for Displaced Persons and Migration of the Republic of Srpska

Within the premises of the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration located in Belgrade, an Agreement of Cooperation was signed between the Commissariat and the Republic’s Secretariat for Displaced persons and Migration of the Republic of Srpska. 

he Agreement was signed by the Assistant to the Commissioner, Mr. Ivan Gerginov and the Director of the Republic’s Secretariat for Displaced Persons and Migration, Mr. Marko Antic.
This act represents a continuation and further development of cooperation between Serbia and the Republic of Srpska, primarily based on the, “Agreement for the Establishment of Special Parallel Relations,” signed in Banja Luka in 2006.  The first step will be the formation of the ‘Cooperation Commission’ which is to be comprised of three representatives from the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration of the Republic of Serbia and an equal number of representatives from the Republic’s Secretariat for Displaced Persons and Migration of the Republic of Srpska.  The respective responsibilities which have been defined and enabled by means of this Agreement are as follows:
 
- The joint realization of the Project with particular emphasis being placed on those questions which relate to the provision of assistance to Serbian Returnees to the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
 
- Joint participation in international and regional projects in keeping with the latest changes and international legal instruments.
 
 
- Joint projects concerned with the provision of economic support for the ongoing economic activities of refugees returning from the Republic of Serbia, by means of educational activities and professional trainings held on the topic of migration.
 
- Joint organization of and participation in professional and scientific meetings and seminars.
 
 
- Supporting cooperation with beneficiary associations; facilitating the exchange of information, best practice experience and resources.
 
- Joint submission of project proposals to international organizations and other partners
 
- Application of best practice examples and knowledge transfer within the field of Human Resources between both of the co-signing parties.  
 
The Director of the Regional Secretariat, Mr. Marko Antic has expressed that those who will benefit most as a consequence of this Agreement will be refugees and displaced persons in the Republic of Srpska, but also Serbian returnees in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.  The Dayton Peace Accords guarantee the rights of all persons affected by the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina and this form of cooperation, together with the concrete measures proposed therein, is to be directed towards improving the material and living conditions of returnees and refugees.
 
The Assistant to the Commissioner, Mr. Ivan Gerginov stated that the Commissariat stands ready to, in accordance with the already established plan, provide adequate assistance to its partner institution in the Republic of Srpska both as concerns the provision material / financial support, as also through its close to three decades long experience in working with refugees, displaced persons, returnees and migrants.
