ANNUAL REPORT OF THE COMMISSIONER ON MIGRATION FOR 2022
30.01.2023.Commissariat for Refugees and Migration of the Republic of Serbia latest statistics show that during 2022 124,127 migrants were registered in Reception and Asylum Centres. Some stays were shorter, some longer, with average stay duration 16 days compared to 30 days in 2021 and 36 in 2020.
Each of the migrants who passed through the Centres managed by the Commissariat was registered, received accommodation, food, clothing, medical care and humane conduct by those who work with them while the children staying in the Centres were enrolled in regular school programs. The European Union is the largest donor of funds for migration management in Serbia.
Currently 3,059 people are staying in 17 Reception and Asylum Centres (RC Preševo, RC Bujanovac, RC Adaševci, RC Šid, RC Principovac, RC Subotica, RC Sombor, RC Bosilegrad, RC Pirot, RC Divljana, RC Kikinda, AC Obrenovac, AC Vranje, AC Krnjača, AC Bogovađa, AC Tutin, AC Sjenica).
Two Centres are inactive (AC Banja Koviljača, RC Dimitrovgrad) and should the need arise both can be activated without delay.
The top five countries with the highest representation of migrants’ origin in 2022 are Afghanistan 36.13%, Syria 29.19%, Pakistan 11.89%, Morocco 7.92% and India 4.04%.
During 2022, 25 persons received a positive protection decision, of which 15 persons received subsidiary protection, and 10 received refugee status (asylum decision).
In 2022 the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration of the Republic of Serbia worked responsibly and humanely with all categories of people falling under their jurisdiction and will continue with to do so in the coming year.
