Apartments from RHP sub-project 4 for 20 refugee families in Temerin

21.08.2019. Twenty refugee families from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia residing in Temerin received keys to their newly built apartments intended for social housing under protected conditions, as part of the fourth subproject of the Regional Housing Programme (RHP).
 
Construction of the two buildings, each with 10 apartments, located in Trece krajiske proleterske brigade bb in Temerin, was provided partly from the RHP Donor Fund, managed by the Council of Europe Development Bank, and partly from the Temerin municipality budget. The RHP fund donated 441,814 euros, while the municipal contribution amounts to 10 million dinars. The contractor is "KEJ Valjevo."
 
Among numerous digniteries and officials, this RHP event was attended by Ivica Dacic, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and President of the Commission for Coordination of the Process of Permanent Integration of Refugees of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, Vladimir Cucic, Commissioner for Refugees and Migration, Djuro Ziga, Mayor of Temerin, Mateja Norcic Stamcar, Charge d'Affaires, EU Delegation to Serbia, Joseph Mellott, Deputy Head of the OSCE Mission to Serbia, Bojan Stevic, State Secretary in the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, Tim Swett, Coordinator for Refugees in the U.S. Embassy, Michael Pietsch, First Secretary for Culture and Press in the German Embassy, Mirjana Milenkovski, Representative of UNHCR in Serbia, Borislava Lukic, Representative of PIU, Dusko Cutilo, Director of the provinicial Fund for Refugees, Expelled and Displaced Persons, representatives of RHP Partner Countries and beneficiaries.
 
Commissioner for Refugees and Migration, Vladimir Cucić, thanked the donors, in first place the European Union as the largestdonor, as well as all the partners with whose support the Regional Housing Program is being implemented at full capacity throughout the Republic of Serbia.
 
"Wit these 20 housing units in Temerin where people are moving into today, a total of 3 679 housing solutions from the Regional Housing Programme have been allocated so far in Serbia," the Commissioner emphasized.
 
Minister Ivica Dacic told beneficiaries that, after more than two decades, they have resolved one of the most important issues in life.
 
"As we shared your sufferings and listened to your painful life stories during the nineties, today we have the opportunity to paricipate in your joy. All of us share the same problems, the same troubles, therefore together we celebrate happy moments, ” Dacic said.


 
Milanka Macanovic, a refugee from Kljuc, spoke on behalf of all twenty beneficiary families who have a roof over their heads as of today.
 
"One of the most beautiful things that has happened to us in Serbia is that thanks to the Regional Housing Programme, the donors, the Republic of Serbia and the Commissariat for Refugees, we have been given this new, modern apartment where our three-member family will finally settle down," said Milanka.
