Commissioner for Refugees and Migration of the Republic of Serbia, Vladimir Cucic met with the Deputy Ambassadors of the EU countries in Serbia at the Reception Center for migrants in Subotica. The delegation also visited a refugee family from Mostar, who purchased a village house through the Regional Housing Programme (RHP) implemented by the Commissariat.

Commissioner Cucic presented the current migrant situation not only in the Reception center in Subotica where currently 50 families are accommodated, mainly from Afghanistan, Iraq and Pakistan, waiting to cross the Hungarian border, but also throughout Serbia, with an overview of the migrant situation in the region and beyond.

The Delegation, comprised of 15 Deputy Ambassadors of the EU countries, led by the Deputy Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia Mateja Norcic Stamcar also visited the home of Mirjana Bajrusevic, a refugee from Mostar, who recently received a village house under the Regional Housing Programme (RHP). Mirjana Bajrusevic thanked the representatives of the donor countries, who made it possible for her to acquire a new home after a long time.

The regional housing programme in Serbia has been implemented in the past several years and it helped provide housing solutions to nearly 2,000 refugee families from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia. The main donor of RHP is the European Union.
