Commissioner Cucic and DEU Head of Operations Nicolas Bizel visited Tutin and Sjenica

Within the EU Support to Migration Management in Serbia, Commissioner for Refugees and Migration, Vladimir Cucic and Nikolas Bizel, Head of Operations I of the EU Delegation to Serbia visited Tutin and Sjenica.

European Union donated medical vehicles to the health centers in Tutin and Sjenica with the aim to improve the quality and availability of health services both for migrants and local population. During the visit to Tutin, the delegation visited Kindergarten "Maja",  expanded and equipped by EU funds, as well as the Center for Asylum - Annex B, built with EU funds. In Sjenica, a water tank was donated and the beginning of reconstruction of the Asylum Center in Sjenica was announced.

Nicolas Bisel pointed out that since the beginning of the increased influx of migrants in 2015, the EU has been the largest donor in the Republic of Serbia is managing migration with almost 100 million euros.

"The European Union supports the functioning of reception and asylum centers, the staffing, provision of food and protection of migrants, as well as financing health care, education, social protection and investing in infrastructure," Bizel said.

Commissioner Cucic said that Serbia is in synergy with the EU and that the standards in the centers are in line with the requirements laid down by the EASO.

Government officials involved in migration management as well as representatives of implementing partners who carried out activities in these two municipalities through the EU funds were also a part of both visits.
