Commissioner Nataša Stanisavljević meeting with Laura Lungarotti, new Director of the International Organization for Migration in Serbia
12.12.2022.The Commissioner for Refugees and Migration of the Republic of Serbia Nataša Stanisavljević met today with the new director of the International Organization for Migration in Serbia Laura Lungarotti. The meeting was attended by Donatella Bradić, Programme Coordinator Migration Management in the Western Balkan and Svetlana Velimirović, Deputy Commissioner for Refugees and Migration of the Republic of Serbia.
Meeting agenda included current situation in the field of migration in Serbia as well as the challenges faced by the state of Serbia in migration management processes.
Migration is still at the centre of the European political and social agenda. Due to its experience, the Republic of Serbia has for years advocated for the improvement of dialogue at all levels, for the formulation of common guidelines and goals, especially respect for human rights of migrants in a mixed migrant influx. Today, international migration is an important factor in social transformation continues to be one of the biggest challenges. That's why migration partnerships at the national, regional and global levels are important and International Organization for Migration is one of the biggest partners.
Commissioner Stanisavljević welcomed the new IOM Director to Serbia and expressed her belief that the long-standing successful cooperation between the Commissionerate for Refugees and Migration and the International Organization for Migration will continue in the future.
