DISTRIBUTION OF FIREWOOD AND TRANSPORT

26.12.2022.

The Commissariat for Refugees and Migration provided financial assistance for purchase of firewood for 2,425 families and households of refugees and internally displaced persons on the territory of the Republic of Serbia.

"This relief is a result of the Decision to grant aid to Local Self-Government Districts for the Procurement of Firewood and its transport to family households of refugees and internally displaced persons in their territory, which was adopted by the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration of the Republic of Serbia. The grant covers 106 Local Self-Government Districts on the territory of the Republic of Serbia and Municipalities of the city of Belgrade including Local Self-Government Districts on the territory of Kosovo and Metohija, and the needs of 2,425 families and households of refugees and internally displaced persons were considered. The total value of the aid is 60,625,000 RSD and the individual value of assistance in firewood with transportation is up to 25,000 RSD per family household of refugees and internally displaced persons” Commissioner Nataša Stanisavljević said.

Aid is granted to the most vulnerable family households of refugees and internally displaced persons on the territory of the local self-government unit and includes various vulnerability criteria, namely single-parent households, multi-member families with children, family households with a member/members who suffer diseases of greater socio-medical significance, also families with children or members who are unable to work due to health problems and households of elderly people, single-member households and households without regular income, taking into account different socio-economic living conditions of family households of refugees and internally displaced persons on the territory of the Republic of Serbia.

The Local Self-Government Districts invite family households of refugees and internally displaced persons to submit the necessary documentation for the allocation of aid when upon completion of Public Procurement delivery of firewood is made to the Beneficiaries home address, with the intention of helping the most vulnerable families of refugees and internally displaced persons to overcome difficulties obtaining firewood for the coming winter.

This is the kind of assistance we provide for the most vulnerable family households of refugees and internally displaced persons and primarily we strive to provide them with adequate living conditions or housing solutions. In the past years, the Republic of Serbia provided housing for a total of 26,151 families/households, of which 19,573 were refugees from the former Republics of SFR Yugoslavia and 6,499 internally displaced persons from Kosovo and Metohija. The Commissariat for Refugees and Migration continuously takes care of refugees and displaced persons and we will continue with such a policy in the future, the commissioner concluded.
