05.02.2018.
At the reception center in Divljana near Bela Palanka there are currently forty migrant children and youngsters of school age. While high school students are preparing to integrate into the education system, the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration has organized non-formal lessons for them at the center. In a meantime, eighteen elementary schoolers attend classes in "Ljupče Španac" in Bela Palanka.

Children are transported to school daily in two shifts. Besides the initial concern regarding communication and understanding between teachers and children, there were no other concerns or any kind of disapproval neither at the school nor in the community. At the beginning of the school year, representatives of organizations working with children at the Divljana reception center attended the classes in order to assist the kids and teachers alike.

Elementary school principal Danijela Ciric says that children learn in different ways and try to perform as much as they are able to due to the language barrier. They also participate in additional activities organized by the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration and the organizations working with children within the reception center Divljana.
