Forty refugee families receive keys to their new apartments in Krusevac

Forty  refugee families from Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Croatia residing on the territory of the City of Krusevac were handed over keys to their newly built apartments  in a ceremony including government officials, representative of donors and media.

The building with 40 apartments was built within the Regional Housing Program (RHP) in the Republic of Serbia, subproject 5. RHP donors allocated the amount of 872,144 euros while the contribution of the City of Krusevac was in the necessary infrastructure.

Commissioner Vladimir Cucić, emphasized that "life overcomes tragedy souch as exile". He thanked the European Union as the largest donor, and expressed hope that "together with the EU, we will be able to provide decent housing solutions for internally displaced persons from Kosovo and Metohija ".

Ceremonial delivery of keys was attended by Ivica Dacic, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, Minister of Foreign Affairs and President of the Commission for Coordination of the Process of Permanent Integration of Refugees, Vladimir Cucic, Commissioner for Refugees and Migration, Jasmina Palurovic, Mayor of Krusevac, H.E, Sam Fabrizi, Ambassador and Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Serbia, Francecsca Bonelli, Head of the UNHCR Representation in Serbia, Žikica Nestorović, State Secretary of the Ministry of State Administration and Local Self-Government, Dusan Kovacevic, Director of the Project Implementation Unit in Public Sector, representatives of other state and international institutions and organizations and beneficiaries.

More than five thousand refugee families from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia have been provided with housing solutions by the Regional Housing Program in the Republic of Serbia so far.
