Government of Serbia adopted the Strategy for Combating Irregular Migration

29.12.2018. Government of the Republic of Serbia adopted the Strategy for Combating Irregular Migration for the period 2018-2020, published by the "Official Gazette of RS" No.105.

This is an important strategic document of the Republic of Serbia, which contributes to increasing the regularity of migration flows and successful migration management at the borders and on the territory of the Republic of Serbia.

The strategy emerged from the perceived need to approach the problem of irregular migration in an organized and coordinated way, respecting the security needs and development interests of the Republic of Serbia and its citizens, on the one hand, and the need to respect universal human rights and freedoms, in the context of migration, on the other.

The main goal of the adopted strategy is a systematic response to irregular migration with the protection of the security and economic interests of the Republic of Serbia and its citizens, as well as the guaranteed rights of migrants.

By adopting and implementing this strategy, the Republic of Serbia will continue the trend of improving its migration policy, which has been developing dynamically since the mid-1990s.
