In Kikinda, the keys to 16 apartments for refugees from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia were solemnly handed over

Today, March 25, 2021, in Kikinda, the keys to 16 apartments intended for refugees from Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Croatia who have a residence on the territory of this city were ceremoniously handed over. The apartments were built within Subproject 5 of the Regional Housing Program, which in the Republic of Serbia, as the leading institution, is managed by the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration.

Financial resources for the construction of the facility in Dušana Vasiljeva Street no. 45 were provided in part from the donor fund of the Regional Housing Program, while the land and supporting infrastructure were provided by the City of Kikinda. The total value of the performed works is 407,381 euros, and the gross developed area of ​​the constructed building is 894.63 m2.

The event was attended by Vladimir Cucic, Commissioner for Refugees and Migration of the Republic of Serbia, Nikola Lukac, Mayor of Kikinda, Leoneta Payer, Representative of the Delegation of the European Union to Serbia, Stefan Almehagen Sandstad, Second Secretary of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Norway, Jovan Lazarov, Head of Project Management Unit in the public sector, as well as representatives of other international organizations and institutions.

The Regional Housing Program is a joint multi-year program of the Republic of Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and the Republic of Croatia, which aims to provide permanent housing solutions for the most vulnerable refugee families in these four countries. It is implemented with the support of the OSCE and the UNHCR, and is financed primarily from donor funds, namely the European Union, which is also the largest donor, the United States, Germany, Norway, Italy, Switzerland, Denmark, Turkey, Luxembourg, Spain, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania and Slovakia. The RSP Fund is managed by the Council of Europe Development Bank.
