"The regional housing program in Serbia aims to provide housing for approximately 7,000 of the most vulnerable families from the territory of the former Yugoslavia who have the status of refugees. The Commissariat for Refugees and Migration has done a lot in aiding refugees, displaced and exiled persons. Of course, the most significant results are related to housing care and as part of this programme a total of 6,869 housing solutions have been allocated to the Beneficiaries thus far while in Šabac total support through both Budget and Donor funds has been provided to 487 families, of which housing solutions were received by 350 families, 87 through the Regional Housing Programme and 137 families were economically empowered. An Occupation Permit was provided for the newly built residential building on the territory of the local Self-Government District Pećinci therefore by the end of the year we expect an allocation of another 15 residential units for the refugee families while in the next year we will continue with that policy, and we expect to solve the housing issue for more than 500 families," said Commissioner Nataša Stanisavljević.
The Regional Housing Programme is a joint recurrent Programme of the Republic of Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and the Republic of Croatia which aims to provide permanent housing solutions to the most vulnerable refugee families in the Region.
