Keys to the 10 newly built apartments in Sid were handed over to refugee families from Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Croatia.
15.12.2022.Today, 15 December 2022 keys to 10 newly built apartments intended for refugees from Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Croatia were handed over. The apartments were built as part of the Regional Housing Programme, Sub-Project 2.
The total gross area of the building is 792 m² to the value of € 343,791.77. The Occupation Permit was issued on September 20, 2022.
The event was attended by Svetlana Velimirović, Deputy Commissioner for Refugees and Migration of the Republic of Serbia, Zoran Semenović, President of the Municipality of Šid, Mirjana Maksimović, Representative of the Delegation of the European Union in Serbia, Ružica Banda, Representative of the OSCE, Jovan Lazarov, Deputy Director of the Public Sector Projects Implementation Unit, representatives of other State and International Organizations and Institutions, and more.
"Today is a significant day for these wonderful families who have finally welcomed their new home. Today marks the end of a long and, which I consider thorny road more than 30 years long, when they left their hearths and came to their Serbia. I wish you to be filled with happiness and love in your new apartments, and to live only beautiful moments and create new memories with your families. The Commissariat for Refugees and Migration continuously takes care of refugees and displaced persons, most significant results are related to housing within the framework of the Regional Housing Programme, a total of 6,829 housing solutions have been allocated to Beneficiaries thus far. In Šid total support through either Budget or Donor funds 358 families were provided with aim of housing care or economic empowerment of which 99 housing solutions provided stem as part of the Regional Housing Programme" said Svetlana Velimirović, Deputy Commissioner.
The Regional Housing Programme is a joint recurrent Programme of the Republic of Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and the Republic of Croatia which aims to provide permanent housing solutions to the most vulnerable refugee families in the Region. It is implemented with the support of the OSCE, the UNHCR and the Council of Europe Development Bank and it is financed with the funds from the European Union which is also the largest donor, the United States, Germany, Norway, Switzerland, Italy, Denmark, Turkey, Luxembourg, Spain, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania and Slovakia.
