Memorandum of Understanding between the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration and ICMPD

Today, Commissioner for Refugees and Migration signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD). The subject of this Memorandum of Understanding is the definition of cooperation between the Commissionerate and ICMPD on the execution of projects which are implemented by both sides on the territory of the Republic of Serbia especially projects related to asylum seekers and migrants.

“Goal of the Memorandum is to execute projects related to asylum seekers and migrants through the activities of the signatory parties, which will improve quality of services and strengthen the capacity of the Commissariat in order to provide the most adequate help to the afore-mentioned categories. Funds for project financing are provided by Donors and they are realized through the project activities of ICMPD and partners on each individual project with the support of the Commissariat," said Commissioner Nataša Stanisavljević.  

                                       

On the basis of this Memorandum appropriate Annexes will be made with a detailed description of rights and obligations for each individual project that the signatory parties will jointly implement, and will form an integral part of this Memorandum.

The International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) is an international organization with 19-member states and more than 484 staff members. Active in more than 90 countries worldwide, it takes a regional approach in its work to create effective cooperation and partnerships along the migration routes. Their approach to migration management – structurally linking policy and research, migration dialogue and capacity building – contributes to better development of migration policy globally.

This organization receives funds from its member states, the European Commission, the UN and other multilateral institutions as well as bilateral donors, and cooperates with more than 141 partners, including EU institutions and UN agencies.

“The Commissariat for Refugees and Migration will actively participate in the implementation in cooperation with the ICMPD, cooperate with the competent departments necessary for the realization of each individual project and will support ICMPD with its expertise, knowledge and skills in order to implement the projects in the most efficient and economical way”, the Commissioner concluded.
