New Year's Events for Children in Reception Centres

On the occasion of the upcoming holidays, New Year's performance and the distribution of packages for the Beneficiaries of the Centres were organized in Reception Centres in Sombor, Šid and Vranje. Every year the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration strives to make the coming holidays beautiful for the children who are accommodated in our Reception and Asylum Centres and to gift them appropriate packages. 62 children received those thus far while gift packages provided for children in all the Reception and Asylum Centres managed by the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration will be distributed next week.

This year the recitals and handover of packets in Šid and Sombor were organized in cooperation with the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration of the Republic of Serbia and the Ecumenical Humanitarian Organization, while in Vranje the event organization was in cooperation with the Do Good Foundation.

Through humorous interpretation, laughter and music, Beneficiaries felt joy and anticipation of the New Year's holiday. The distribution of the packages and taking pictures with Santa Claus took place after the performance.

Children from the Reception Centre Vranje decorated the New Year's tree and prepared New Year's cakes together with the employees from the Commissariat and Santa Claus.

The children from Reception Centre in Šid were entertained by the actors of the Amateur Theatre Branislav Nušić who performed the play The Emperor's New Suit.

“Through humorous interpretation, laughter and music they were momentarily brought the feeling of joy and anticipation of the New Year's holiday. These children especially need our help and are facing situations not of their making thus working with them and doing everything to put a smile on their face and make life easier is the duty and obligation of all of us, and that is precisely what the Commissariat advocates” said Commissioner Stanisavljević.

During the activity there was a festive, cheerful atmosphere. In the decorated space with celebration caps on, the children forgot about the situation they are in at the moment, were looking forward to gifts, socializing, games and songs, just the way it should be.
