New Year's Recital and Holiday Packages for Migrant Children

New Year's Recital and Holiday Packages for Migrant Children

28.12.2022.

Organized by the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration of the Republic of Serbia, all children up to the age of 14 housed at the Reception and Asylum Centres received holiday packages and attended a New Year's recital. The performance and distribution of packages was at the Asylum Centre in Krnjaca where there are most migrant children.

“Together with Santa Claus, today we distributed holiday packages to 115 migrant children residing in our Centres. The children's parents also attended the New Year's performance and this beautiful event. I am very happy that together we could make a more beautiful New Year for the little ones, and put not one but many smiles on their faces. We distributed the gift packages sorted by age so that everyone would get their favourite toy. For years the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration has been organizing the distribution of holiday packages and New Year's performances for children in Centres with the desire that even though they are far away from home, they too feel the joy of the Holidays. We are doing everything in our power to make life easier for all the people in our Centres and provide the necessary conditions for a dignified stay of migrants, especially children" said Commissioner for Refugees and Migration, Nataša Stanisavljević.

The New Year's show and distribution of holiday gift packages for children housed in Reception and Asylum Centres managed by the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration was held last week in Sombor, Šid and Vranje when 62 packages were distributed.

Today's humanitarian action is a message from the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration and the Republic of Serbia that everyone who comes to our country will find understanding, we will try to help all people who are in trouble because we empathize with their suffering, primarily children because they need help the most. This is another indicator that children in the Republic of Serbia feel accepted and that they have support in overcoming their problems.
