REPORT OF THE REPUBLIC OF SERBIA PRESENTED AT THE 4TH CYCLE OF THE UNIVERSAL PERIODIC REVIEW IN GENEVA
12.05.2023.On 9 May 2023 Delegation of the Republic of Serbia presented the Report of the Republic of Serbia at the 4th Cycle of the Universal Periodic Review before the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva. The representative of the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration in Geneva is Miloš Mihajlović, Head of the Department for Primary Reception and realisation the rights of Returnees under the Readmission Agreement.
Delegation of the Republic of Serbia comprised representatives of the Ministries of Labour, Family and Social Protection, Justice, Internal Affairs, Environment, Culture and Information, representatives of the Coordination Body of the Government for Gender Equality, as well as State Authorities in charge of Kosovo and Metohija. Serbian Delegation was joined by the Dejan Zlatanović Ambassador to the Permanent Mission of United Nations Office in Geneva.
During the meeting, numerous problems and challenges in respect of human and minority rights Serbs and other members of non-Albanian communities are faced with in the Autonomous Province of Kosovo and Metohija was discussed. Also, further efforts of the Republic of Serbia related to the improvement of the rule of law and the fight against corruption, consistency in respecting the guaranteed freedom of expression and freedom of media as well as further achievement of sustainable development goals were presented.
101 UN Member Countries applied for a dialogue with the Delegation of the Republic of Serbia, asked questions and gave recommendations during the session dedicated to the Report of the Republic of Serbia, a fellow member of UN. The Republic of Serbia received 268 recommendations from 94 countries.
