Thirty refugee families receive village houses in Sombor

Thirty refugee families from Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Croatia received agreements for village houses in Sombor under the fifth subproject of the Regional Housing Program (RHP) .
 
The event was attended by Mayor of Sombor, Dusanka Golubovic, Assistant Commissioner for Refugees and Migration of the Republic of Serbia, Ivan Gerginov, representative of the EU Delegation to Serbia, Brigitte Kuchar, Deputy Head of the OSCE Mission to Serbia, Joseph Mellot, UNHCR Representative in Serbia, Jadranka Maric, as well as representatives of the Project Implementation Unit in Public Sector, Director of the Provincial Fund for Assisting Refugees, Expelled and Displaced Persons, Dusko Cutilo, as well as representatives of other state and international organizations and beneficiaries.
 
Assistant Commisioner Ivan Gerginov said that RHP played a signiciant role in resolving housing issues for refugees in Sombor. 
 
"By the end of the Programme, a total of 226 housing solutions will be provided in Sombor. Today, it is 30 village houses, 18 more will soon come, we also awarded 31 packages of building material with 80 more on the way. Through RHP, we have awarded two prefabrictaed houses, while 40 apartments are being built and 25 apartment units purchased in near future", Gerginov said. 
 
Financial resources in the amount of 40.7 million dinars for the purchase of these 30 rural households with the accompanying package of construction materials are provided from the Donor Fund of the Regional Housing Program, managed by the Bank for Development of the Council of Europe.
 
RHP subproject 5 is worth slightly more than 52 million euros. The approved donor funds amount to 38.8 million euros, while the Republic of Serbia's contribution amounts to 13.2 million euros. Within the subproject 5, a total of 1 847 housing solutions are allocated: 200 village houses, 1 267 housing units and 380 packages of building material.
