Twenty one refugee families in Subotica receive village houses under RHP

Ceremonial delivery of 21 agreements for purchasing village houses under RHP intended for refugee families from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia residing in Subotica took place today.  
 
The total value of purchased village houses amounts to 231.000 euros and these funds are provided from the RHP Donor Fund, where European Union is the largest donor.  Each of the 21 refugee families receives a donation 11.000 euros per village house.
 
The RHP event was attended by the Mayor of Subotica, Bogdan Laban, Assistant Commissioner for Refugees and Migration of the Republic of Serbia, Ivan Gerginov, State Secretary in the Ministry of State Administration and Local Self-Government Ivan Bosnjak, Assistant of the Provincial Secretary Predrag Radovic, representative of the OSCE Mission to Serbia, Ruzica Banda, the UNHCR representative Ivana Jelic, as well as representatives of other state and international institutions and organizations and beneficiaries.
 
Assistant Commissioner Gerginov stated that Subotica awarded more than 100 housing solutions through RHP and announced that the construction of 44 apartment units for refugees is on the way. 
 
"Similarly, refugees also received assistance from the budget of the Republic of Serbia in the amount of over 73 million dinars. From the budget funds, 78 families were awarded some form of housing solution, while 55 were economically empowered", emphasized Gerginov.
 
Mayor Bogdan Laban also addressed the RHP gathering, pointing out that local authorities were actively involved in providing permanent housing solutions to Subotica’s refugee population.
 
On behalf of all 21 families, beneficiary Jelena Kozlica, a refugee from Knin, thanked the donors, the Commissariat and the City of Subotica authorities for the granted assistance granted.
